Chief Legal Officer, Head of Corporate Affairs, and Corporate Secretary
Our Chief Legal Officer, Head of Corporate Affairs, and Corporate Secretary is an exceptional lawyer and senior executive that is leading GitLab through the going public process and helping manage our growth as a public company. The Chief Legal Officer has successfully led a high growth technology Company and has at least two years of operating experience as Chief Legal Officer of a public company. They have the background and experience to act as a strategic partner and business advisor to the CEO and the Board of Directors, as well as the technical depth and leadership experience to run GitLab’s legal function.
Contract Manager
Job Grades The Contract Manager is a grade 6. Read more about GitLab Job Grades. Contract Manager The Contract Manager is responsible for managing the contracting process for sales, procurement and non-sales engagements. At the direction of the Director of Contracts & Legal Operations, the Contract Manager will review, negotiate, and manage all contracts, as well as oversee the overall contracting process. Responsibilities Draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts including services, consulting, marketing, licensing, non-disclosure, data privacy, and other commercial and technology related agreements Perform risk analysis review for all contractual documents and recommend mitigating options Understand the Company and products in order to identify risks, develop solutions, mitigation and negotiation strategies Input completed contracts into the contract management system and capture key terms Requirements Minimum of 5 years of contracts drafting, reviewing and negotiation experience at a software technology company BA/BS required.
Corporate Development
Coporate Development Analysis Analyst, Corporate Development As an Analyst, Corporate Development, you will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, and owning the acquisition opportunity pipeline, and helping with the deal flow. Job Grade The Analyst, Corporate Development is a grade 6. Responsibilities Create a target list of potential acquisitions Develop relationships with tech incubators, investors, and other sources of acquisition candidates Execute a sourcing plan through online research, outreach, and other means to help support the corporate development team goals Operationalize acquisition sourcing and handling processes to help the team scale Validate fit for terms, product roadmap, and other criteria Value the companies in a financial model Help negotiate terms of the deal Manage deal flow CRM system data Prepare all acquisition related documents such as Non-Disclosure Agreements, Letters of Intent, and Purchase Agreements with our legal team and legal counsel Assist in various aspects of the deal as necessary: qualification, initial rationale/pitch, financial modeling, due diligence and closing & integration activities.
Director of Compliance
Director of Compliance The Director of Compliance reports to the Senior Director of Legal, Corporate, and is responsible for providing counsel and guidance related to the design, implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures to ensure GitLab’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Director of Compliance: Job Grade The Director of Compliance is a Grade 10. Director of Compliance: Responsibilities Architect and manage GitLab’s full suite of global compliance programs including, but not limited to, organizational strategies, policies and practices Advise E-Group and other key stakeholders including the GitLab Board of Directors on compliance matters including procedures and practices regarding anti-bribery and anti-corruption, contracts, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, privacy and security and other matters Promote and lead team member enablement and education to enable compliance with laws, rules, regulations, internal policies and procedures; facilitate company-wide proactive communication to ensure a culture of compliance at GitLab Design and implement monitoring frameworks to identify, report and mitigate compliance risks; conduct periodic risk assessments and develop and implement a work plan to address risk Build and retain a global compliance team and ensure appropriate and cooperative allocation of responsibilities Director of Compliance: Requirements 8+ years of compliance experience, including program creation, implementation, and enablement Effective collaborator who embraces iteration in order to innovate, drive, and scale best-in-class compliance programs and policies, drive strategy with stakeholders from multiple functions, and anticipate evolving risk in a global market Deep knowledge and proven track record of success with ranging compliance matters Outstanding cross-functional partnership skills, with a confirmed ability to identify, initiate and lead efforts with both internal and external teams Effective communicator with experience communicating at the boardroom level Ownership mindset, equally comfortable operating at the micro and macro levels with the innate ability to know which level is needed at what time as well as appropriate sense of urgency Experience with establishing and managing an operating budget Background with building efficiency for scale, and proven ability to iterate and learn things quickly An effective communicator with the ability to use “plain language”, escalate, coordinate, provide feedback, and ask for help Strong operational mindset with ability to prioritize projects and demands Embrace GitLab Values of Collaboration, Results, Efficiency, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging, Iteration, and Transparency Performance Indicators Performance indicators will be set by the incoming Director of Compliance, upon joining GitLab.

Director, Legal Responsibilities Partner with leadership, team members and other stakeholders across GitLab to address legal related matters Advise on, draft, maintain and review templates and policies Monitor and analyze changes in the law and legal risks; propose creative and effective solutions to address those risks Anticipate legal issues or risks and build the necessary processes and systems to address them Manage outside counsel relationships, as needed Director, Legal Requirements 8+ years combined law firm and in-house legal department experience, preferably in a multinational company Juris Doctorate/United States law degree and bar admission in at least one US state Proven success working effectively across business units and internal functions to efficiently resolve complex business issues Practical yet creative problem-solving approach that emphasizes addressing business needs while protecting GitLab’s interests Proactive, dynamic, and result driven self starter with strong attention to detail Familiarity working across the globe, to support multiple time zones and cultures Outstanding interpersonal skills, the ability to interface effectively with all business functions throughout the organization with a highly responsive and service-oriented attitude Sound and practical business judgment Previous experience in a remote work environment would be an added advantage Ability to use GitLab Senior Director, Legal Senior Director, Legal Job Grade The Senior Director, Legal is a grade 11.

ESG Manager The ESG Manager reports to the Senior Director, ESG, and is responsible for contributing to GitLab’s sustainability programs, policies, and initiatives. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in environment, social, and governance programs and disclosures. Legal Intern
Legal Interns at GitLab may work within GitLab Legal, on matters relating to employment, privacy and product, corporate affairs, and/or contracts. This internship is open to law students, with a preference to those candidates who will have completed their 2L year by the time the internship starts, as an opportunity to further their professional legal experience and learn what a legal career in-house at an enterprise software company may entail. Associate Paralegal Responsibilities Support administration of legal issue tracker and Legal page in Handbook. Prepare or support attorneys in preparing standard agreements as assigned. Responding to and running point on internal and/or external questionnaires. Assist in-house legal team in coordinating federal, state and local regulatory compliance documents.
