Scope
This team owns what callers see when they search GitLab: the search experience across every content type, the retrieval APIs that people and agents call under their own permissions, and ranking. Ranking sits here on purpose. Relevance is an experience outcome, so the team accountable for quality holds the lever. When a ranking change has to land in engine code, this team specifies it and Search Indexes and Infrastructure reviews it. Index internals stay with that team.
